WILGARRUP SCHOOL

Willemenup School was firstly named Wilgarrup and was
quickly changed to Willemenup School.  Situated at the corner of Cambellup and Tambellup Roads, it was opened on 28th January 1914. George Brooks was the first teacher. He resided at the school with his mothe. He enlisted in the Army when war broke out and was killed in action.

Mrs. Everstone was the next teacher who had two adopted children, may have been called Louise and Mavis. She changed her name from Heverstein to Everstone. Her former name Heverstein being German and WW1 was in progress.

Children attending the school at that time were:
WHYATT     Wilfred, Albert, Gladstone
HERBERT    Harry, Jack
SEARLE      Robert, Eddie, Millie
GARNETT    Ida, Grace, Thelma
RICHARDS   Jane, Maggie, Jean, Stan, Eva
WALLWORK Marion, George, Dorothy
Also possibly DAVIS  Ettie, Dave

A teacher in later years appears to have been a Miss Mollie Cridleon who later married local identity, Dudley Herbert.
